I used to be a supporter of PETA until I felt they were going to far with some of their campaigns. While I continue to be anti-fur, I haven’t been particularly inclined to jump on various bandwagons previous so-called “stars” have induced.
This video impressed me though being that it’s Trent Reznor speaking out- someone who has the respect of most alternative/metal artists and musicians. Someone who might be able to reach out to those in and/or to fans of that industry, who are indifferent or too “cool” to think about things like this.
The video can be found at Fur is Dead or Youtube.
Watch and learn. But most of all- seek to change if not yourself, then someone else. Thank you.
Silly me, what in the world is up with this post on Yahoo? “Worst” Hair Metal Bands? Were there any others not on that list? As far as I’m concerned, bands like Poison, Skid Row, and Warrant were the EPITOME of hair metal bands. Anything harder was considered “heavy” metal- a label that metallers refused to apply to the glam boys.
What characterizes “hair metal” anyway? If it’s just the “big hair,” these guys had that and more. What I always considered “hair metal” was not just the hair but this fusion of hard rock/heavy metal that wasn’t quite metal and too noisy to be pop/rock. Some of the bands on that list defined that genre and unless this author was just trying to make the point that all hair metal is BAD, the “worst” therefore being the actual “best” of the genre, I don’t see why some of these bands were on the list. If it had been titled worst “heavy metal” bands, I could have understood but some of these guys made that genre so I don’t get it.
And yes, I loved some of those bands. What can I say, I love power ballads and loud party music. There’s a lot of nostalgia attached to that music. :p
Since I’m on the subject, Cinderella cancelled their tour with Warrant and Lynch Mob last week. I still have to get my tickets refunded.
A shame really since I was really looking forward to this tour. The Down Boys are finally together again after a brief stint with a new vocalist (and Jani going solo). It’s almost deja vu since I still remember the Poison/Warrant tour being cancelled a few years ago because Bobby Dahl (I think) had an accident. The details are hazy now but I remember having to refund those tickets too. Ah well.
Or is it? We’ll see how this goes. CD/DVD/Concert reviews as well as whatever else I feel like posting up.
If I remember my password. Hah!
